We talked to PrettyLitter subscriber Julie S. about Maka and here’s what she had to say:
Maka is currently 6 years old - he is a Lynx Point Siamese. Maka was originally adopted by a young man named Adam from the Humane Society. After a year, Adam unfortunately needed to move back to Hawaii, but he couldn't take Maka with him. I had just moved into a new apartment and I was ADAMANT that I wasn't going to have any pets other than my fish Pascal. I didn't know Adam, but my friend Mandy did - she knew Maka needed a home. So she asked me. I said no. She asked again a few days later. I said no again. This continued for a little over a month. Finally she said "Look, just go meet this cat and if you still don't want him then I'll stop bothering you!" I inwardly rolled my eyes but agreed. And I'm sure you can imagine how that went. 5 minutes with Maka and I knew that I would be taking that cat home.
A couple days later Maka moved in with me. Maka was mine from the start. He slept belly up on top of me at night, he terrorized poor Pascal, he consistently got into the pantry - I came home different times to flour all over the house, corn starch spilled everywhere, couscous all over - he knew how to open the cupboards and help himself to things. So I had to babyproof my kitchen from my cat. To this day this is still necessary. He quickly became my best friend. He hangs out with me constantly - but not in an annoying way - more in that silent companion way.
One day, when I was taking care of the litter box I noticed something wasn't right. Because I had PrettyLitter I was able to see and detect right away that there was blood in his urine. He was very sick - but he was still running around my apartment chattering away - so if it wasn't for PrettyLitter I wouldn't have known, and he could have died. He had to be in the emergency vet for a little over 24 hours. He had ultrasounds and x-rays - they were afraid there was a blockage. And through it all he was such a good man - the vet told me that they loved him and that he was so sweet. Now he has to be on special urinary food to help prevent crystals from forming in his digestive system.
I got him a cat to keep him company - her name is Evie. To this day if she is doing something naughty I'll ask Maka to please control his cat. He is constantly curious and getting into the best sort of mischief.
One Fun Fact About Me:
We take baths together (NOT by my choice)
Maka’s Favorite Pastimes:
Laying in tunnels, attacking my feet under the covers when I'm asleep, waking up the entire house at 4:30 every morning, getting into small-spaced boxes, paper bags, drawers, laundry baskets, the dryer, anything left open.
Most Mischievous Behavior:
Breaking into the pantry and eating as many tortillas as he can before getting caught.
If your cat could have one thing unlimited for the rest of time, what would it be?
